The Lawyers Assistance Program of Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers (LCL), offers free, confidential help to lawyers, judges and law students, affected by alcohol, drug and/or other addictions, as well as depression, stress and other emotional conditions which may impair their ability to perform competently.
DOR, an independent provider of assessment, counseling and referral services has licensed, professional counselors who provide these services to LCL clients on a 24-hour basis, throughout Minnesota.
Because lawyers who may be in need of help are often very reluctant to seek it, confidentiality is vital. All information received by LCL is held in strict confidence. LCL does not report, discipline or otherwise threaten the career or reputation of any lawyer, judge or law student who seeks assistance.
The foundation of LCL is a network of volunteer lawyers, judges and law students, throughout Minnesota, who, primarily are themselves recovering from alcohol or other addiction and/or mental health issues. Most members have experienced problems similar to those requesting help, and can provide a strong support framework when it is appropriate.
