Continuing Legal Education (CLE): Class List CLE History

LCL volunteer lawyers have presented CLEs on chemical dependency and mental health issues throughout Minnesota. In addition, presentations can be provided on a wide range of behavioral health, career focused, and other topics important to the work of lawyers, judges, and law students.

Stress, career dissatisfaction, marital and family problems in addition to gambling, sex, work, and various chemical addictions have a major impact on the study and practice of the law. As such they, as well as others, are areas of inquiry designed specifically for the individual legal audience which LCL can present.

Presentations examine the causes of these conditions, their symptoms and affect on professional and personal lives, appropriate treatment resources, strategies for prevention, and helpful responses by concerned persons.

If you are interested in attending or hosting a CLE, please contact Joan Bibelhausen, LCL Executive Director, to discuss the audience, topic, and focus of your interest. Presenters include lawyers and judges with personal experience in the area as well as professionals in behavioral health and other related fields.

Minnesota LCL will be developing CLE modules for use by qualified professionals. These packages will support presentations on a range of topics in behavioral health and the law. Outlines, Power Point presentations, handout materials, educational exercises, and reading lists will be included.

Such instructional units are already available for purchase from the Canadian Bar Association. See a list of their topics in the Resources section.
